What are companion care services?
Companion care services are provided to individuals who need non-medical assistance with daily activities and prefer to maintain an independent lifestyle. These services are often sought by the elderly, new and expectant parents, disabled individuals, and those transitioning from a hospital or medical facility to home.
What services can CareFocus Companions provide in the home?
Companions can provide services in the home that are considered non-medical. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Helping start and end the day (getting out of and into bed, dressing)
• Assisting with personal care activities
• Reminder services (medications, dates, routines, etc.)
• Assisting with mobility
• Preparing meals and feeding
• Providing companionship and conversation
• Performing light housekeeping
• Running errands (prescription pick-up, dry cleaning, grocery shopping, etc.)
• Organizing and reading mail
• Escorting to appointments (doctor appointments and social engagements)
• Assisting with pet care
• Entertaining (games, crafts, reading, etc.)
• Home safety evaluation

What makes CareFocus different from other companion care service providers?
CareFocus Companion Services is committed to providing you with quality customer service. Our staff is available around-the-clock, 24-hours a day, seven days a week. We offer complimentary in-home consultations and home safety evaluations every 90 days, as well, as at the start of your program. Furthermore, caregivers are regularly supervised and evaluated to asses whether CareFocus’ service standards are met.
How do I know if my companion is qualified?
Caregivers undergo interviewing, testing, and screening prior to employment. This includes performance of multiple background checks, reference checks, license verifications when applicable, driver record screenings, and a formal orientation. Additionally, caregivers are regularly supervised and evaluated by management as we strive to ensure that you or your loved one is receiving the attention they deserve.
How long is the wait time for services?
CareFocus companions are available to start within 24-hours, and often, the same day.
Does CareFocus provide companion care services in assisted living facilities?
Yes. CareFocus provides companions to you or your loved one in an assisted living facility. Our goal is to give quality care to you in the environment that’s most comfortable.
Is there a fee if I cancel services?
No. There is no hourly minimum or obligation to utilize our companion care services for any length of time. Our companions are available on an as-needed basis to fit you or your loved one’s specific needs.
How much do companion care services cost?
The cost of service varies on a case-by-case basis. CareFocus Companion Services coordinates billing with most long-term care insurance companies*. We also accept personal payment for services.

What if my loved one needs medication or a transfer?
While CareFocus’ companions can provide medication reminders and assist with mobility, they are not skilled to administer medications or handle a full transfer. If your loved one is in need of a higher level of skilled care, please contact your local CareFocus Companion Services office for more information.
