With Maxim Companion Services in San Diego, you'll receive care that promotes safety and independence.
Maxim Companion Services provides non-medical assistance at home for seniors, new and expectant parents, and other individuals who need support. Our companion services include, but are not limited to:
- Starting and ending the day (getting out of and into bed, dressing, etc.)
- Reminder services (medications, dates, routines, etc.)
- Assisting with mobility
- Preparing meals and feeding
- Home safety evaluation
- Performing light housekeeping
- Running errands (prescription pick up, dry cleaning, grocery shopping, etc.)
- Organizing and reading mail
- Escorting to appointments (doctor appointments and social engagements)
- Entertaining (games, crafts, reading, etc.)
- Providing companionship and conversation
- Emergency back-up planning (plan for the future by locking-in pricing and care when you need it)
- Live-in care services
- Hourly Care
- AM/PM Care: Assistance to start your morning or end your day
The San Diego office is proud to employ experienced and credentialed caregivers who have completed a rigorous background screening and interview process prior to employment. Each caregiver must also provide two professional references, pass a physical examination, and hold a current CPR certification, prior to employment. Many are also licensed as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) or Home Health Aides (HHAs).
Maxim Companion prides itself on training that is provided upon hire, and is required throughout the year to ensure consistent skill levels and the most up-to-date health knowledge. From the first phone call, to the last day of service the focus of our San Diego office is on care. The process begins with a conversation over the phone to assess you or your loved one’s needs, gather basic demographic information, and establish a timeline for service delivery.
The next step is a free face-to-face meeting with a Maxim representative from our San Diego location. During this consultation, which can take place in the comfort of your home or in the healthcare setting where you or your loved one is currently residing, we will further establish the level of care and your preferences for a caregiver and complete the initial paperwork.
After meeting with you, the office team will get to work finding a caregiver(s) that meets your specific requirements. Once we have identified the right caregiver(s), we will contact you and schedule a time for to meet and interview the proposed caregiver(s). This process can be repeated as necessary if we don’t find the perfect match the first time.
Our No. 1 goal is helping patients remainin the comfort of their own home while receiving quality care and companionship. Every patient's needs vary, and therefore, so do our rates. We aim to provide industry-leading care that isn't cost prohibitive, and we'll work with you to find an affordable solution for your homecare needs.
We do not work with independent contractors or “freelancers.” We are a full-service agency and take full responsibility for meeting all legal and financial liabilities, such as payroll taxes, Social Security Insurance (SSI), workers compensation, insurance, benefits, and retirement plans.

Catherine Loyd has been the most effective, caring, in-charge, and excellent helper for my Aunt and has sustained these qualities over a longer period of time than any other helper. She has gone above and beyond the expected level of competence and compassion and has taken an active role in coordinating and informing other helpers, communicating with medical resources and family, and making up new processes and procedures that are appropriate for my Aunt's care. She is a capable evaluator in situations of medical or interpersonal crisis, and is able to see past the immediate level of complaint in order to effectively address and calm situations. She is excellent at communicating and documenting issues and making sure that other care-givers know what has transpired. Her low-key approach to my Aunt has been extremely successful and she is, at the same time, able to appropriately confront my Aunt about things that are necessary for her care or involve potential danger.
